Jordona’s Picks · A Local’s Guide
The list we actually give people. Some of these you would drive straight past without a local telling you; some are names you already know and are simply the right call. Either way, this is where a family who has worked Temecula for years eats.
Also ours: The Press Espresso · Corbeaux Wine and Tea House
Where Temecula actually goes out: the sports bars with the game on, the patios that stay busy after dark, and the room with a band in it. Not a long list, because it is not a long list.
Not the attractions list, just the places people here actually go on a weekend. If you are working out what there is to do in Temecula beyond the obvious, start with these.
Also ours: Akash Winery & Vineyard
Temecula has more good golf inside twenty minutes than anywhere else in the valley: the course a community is named for, and the one down in the De Luz canyon with a grill attached.

Latest from the City of Temecula
All Temecula news ↗Redhawk is a big southeast Temecula neighborhood, about 3,000 homes built from 1991 to 2017 around Redhawk Golf Club. Red Hawk Elementary is on Camino San Jose, Great Oak High is about six minutes away, and Old Town is a little over ten. Homes are around 2,650 square feet at the median, the HOA dues are the lowest of the city's master plans, and 84 homes sold in the last year.
Redhawk is big. The association covers about 3,000 homes, and it feels more like a set of neighborhoods that grew up side by side than one development. Some pockets are gated, some back onto the fairways of Redhawk Golf Club, and some are regular subdivision streets. You drive in past the waterfall at the entrance and the golf course runs right through the middle.
Don't expect a big community clubhouse. The association's own list is community parks, a dog park and the 18-hole public golf course, and that's a big part of why the dues sit around $40 a month.
Redhawk Community Park, on Redhawk Parkway, is the everyday park: ball fields, barbecues, picnic shelters and a dog park with enclosed runs. Vail Headquarters is about five minutes away. Those are the old Vail ranch buildings on Temecula Parkway, and now they're shops and food.
Redhawk is in Temecula Valley Unified, and there are several elementary schools right around it. Red Hawk Elementary is on Camino San Jose. Helen Hunt Jackson Elementary is on Camino San Dimas, and Pauba Valley Elementary is close by too, each a few minutes from most homes. Vail Ranch Middle is on Camino Piedra Rojo, about three minutes away, and Great Oak High is on Deer Hollow Way, about six.
In a community this size, two homes a mile apart can land in different elementary schools. The district assigns by address, so send me the one you're looking at and I'll confirm all three levels.
Pechanga Resort and Temecula Valley Hospital are both about seven minutes away. Old Town is a little over ten minutes west for the Saturday farmers market and dinner on Front Street, and the wineries on Rancho California Road are about fifteen minutes.
The 15 is about five miles west on Temecula Parkway. Downtown San Diego runs about an hour and fifteen minutes on clear roads, so drive it at the hour you'd really leave before you count on it.
Redhawk started going up in 1991, and the newest homes date to 2017. That's a 26-year span, against nine years in Harveston and eleven in Morgan Hill, and it's the most useful thing to know about the place. The homes really do change from street to street. In the other three, they mostly don't.
Redhawk was also annexed into the city later than the communities to the west. It grew up around the golf course instead of a developer's amenity center, which is why it still doesn't look much like a master plan.
The median home is about 2,650 square feet, on a lot of about 6,550 square feet. In August 2026, next to Harveston, that was about 500 square feet more house on a lot 25% bigger, and the median dues were $40 a month against Harveston's $133. That's a big part of why Redhawk sold as often as it did that year.
The median sale over the last twelve months was $824,500, and eighty-four homes closed here. In August 2026, 24 were on the market at a median of $809,500. It was the deepest market of Temecula's master plans at the time. Buyers get more to choose from. Sellers get a timeline they can plan around.
Start with the year the house was built. In a community built over this many years, a 1993 home and a 2015 home a few streets apart are two different products, because the roof, systems, insulation, windows and layout all changed a lot across that span. A Redhawk median tells you about the area. It won't tell you much about one house.
Then Mello-Roos. Dues are low here, so the special tax is the bigger question by comparison. Homes at the newer end of the range are the most likely to carry a Community Facilities District assessment, and it's set by parcel, so I check the address instead of assuming from the community.

Your payment
An estimate for planning only, not a loan offer, quote or financial advice. Your actual payment depends on your lender, credit and final terms.
An estimate, not a quote. The rate and tax rate are defaults you can change, and homes in newer parts of the valley often carry a Mello-Roos special tax on top. Put it in the HOA field if you know it, and ask us if you do not.
Homeowners Association
Too few homes are currently on the market in Redhawk reporting association dues to publish a reliable range. Ask us and we will pull the current figure for a specific address.
Redhawk has the lowest HOA dues of Temecula's large master plans, around $40 a month at the median across the listings that report them. Because the dues are low, a Mello-Roos assessment is the bigger monthly number by comparison, and the newer end of Redhawk's 1991 to 2017 range is where a Community Facilities District is most likely. It's set by parcel, so we confirm the figure on the address instead of quoting a community average. Ask for the association's governing documents, the current dues, any pending special assessment, and the reserve study. In California the seller is required to provide these under Civil Code §4525, and the time to read them is your investigation period rather than after it.

Top Realtor in Temecula: the record and homes we soldTemecula Valley Unified. Red Hawk Elementary on Camino San Jose, Helen Hunt Jackson Elementary on Camino San Dimas and Pauba Valley Elementary are all a few minutes from most homes, Vail Ranch Middle is on Camino Piedra Rojo, and Great Oak High is on Deer Hollow Way about six minutes away. The district assigns by address, so confirm the schools for the exact home.
Not as a whole. Redhawk is an association of about 3,000 homes, and some of the neighborhoods inside it are gated while others aren't. If a gate matters to you, tell me and I'll only send you homes behind one.
Yes. Redhawk Golf Club, an 18-hole public course at 45100 Redhawk Parkway, runs through the middle of the community, and some homes back onto the fairways. You don't have to be a member to play it.
About five miles west on Temecula Parkway. Old Town is a little over ten minutes away, and Pechanga Resort and Temecula Valley Hospital are both about seven.
Because Redhawk was built over 26 years, from 1991 to 2017. Two homes a few streets apart can be a generation apart in how they were built. The roof, systems, windows, insulation and floor plan all changed a lot across that span. That's the main reason a Redhawk median is less useful for pricing a specific house than it would be in a community built over nine years.
In August 2026 it was the most liquid of Temecula's master plans. Eighty-four homes closed in the last twelve months, compared with Morgan Hill's thirty. That August, 24 were on the market. For a buyer that means real choice. For a seller it means the comparable sales behind your price are recent and plentiful, not one closing from eight months ago.
Over the last year Redhawk's median sale was $824,500 and Wolf Creek's was $829,900. The homes are shaped differently. In August 2026, Redhawk homes ran about 190 square feet smaller at the median and sat on bigger lots, and Redhawk was built over 26 years where Wolf Creek went up in eight. In the last twelve months Redhawk sold 84 homes and Wolf Creek sold 49.
