Jordona’s Picks · A Local’s Guide
The list we actually give people. Some of these you would drive straight past without a local telling you; some are names you already know and are simply the right call. Either way, this is where a family who has worked Murrieta for years eats.
Where Murrieta actually goes out: the sports bars with the game on, the patios that stay busy after dark, and the room with a band in it. Not a long list, because it is not a long list.
Not the attractions list, just the places people here actually go on a weekend. If you are working out what there is to do in Murrieta beyond the obvious, start with these.
Where to play in and around Murrieta, from a public course you can book this week to a club a whole community is built around.
What’s Coming Up
From the City of Murrieta’s own calendar, so it stays current without anyone here retyping it. These are Murrieta-wide, and most are a short drive from Spencer's Crossing.
Check the Murrieta calendar ↗ before you set out.
Spencer's Crossing is Murrieta's new-build master plan, about 600 acres on the east edge of the city, and it's still building. Lisa J. Mails Elementary and Dorothy McElhinney Middle sit side by side on Briggs Road, the community has its own pools and a lighted sports park, and the 215 is about ten minutes west. Of the 63 sales in the year to August 2026, 58 were built in the 2010s or 2020s on large modern floor plans, and almost all were 2,200 square feet or more.
Spencer's Crossing covers about 600 acres on Murrieta's east edge, and it's still filling in, so a finished street can sit a block from one the builder is still working on. Brookfield Residential laid it out with about four miles of paseos and trails running between the neighborhoods.
The parks are the thing to know about. The Club on Evening Glow Drive has the pool, the clubhouse and a playground. The Oasis opened in 2018 with two more pools, fire pits, barbecues, shade and lawn across more than three acres. Heroes Park is 14 acres, and the Sports Park is 11.5 acres of lighted soccer and ball fields.
Spencer's Crossing is split between two school systems. Most of it is Murrieta Valley Unified: Lisa J. Mails Elementary and Dorothy McElhinney Middle are next door to each other on Briggs Road, and Vista Murrieta High is on Clinton Keith Road, about ten minutes away. About a third of the sales in the year to August 2026 were on streets that go to Menifee Union for kindergarten through eighth grade and Perris Union High for high school instead.
Schools are assigned by address. Send me the one you're looking at and I'll confirm the elementary, middle and high school before you write an offer.
Loma Linda University Medical Center in Murrieta is about ten minutes west, right by the 215 on-ramp at Clinton Keith Road. The Promenade in Temecula is about 15 minutes south. Old Town Murrieta is about 16 minutes, and Old Town Temecula is about 20.
Spencer's Crossing is a master-planned community in ZIP 92563, and it's still filling in. Seventeen of the sixty-three sales in the year to August 2026 were homes built in the 2020s. That mix of brand-new construction and early resales changes how you shop, because you'll often be comparing a builder's standing inventory against a five-year-old house on the next street.
Seventy-two homes sold here in the last twelve months. In August 2026, twenty-five were on the market.
Different groups own the recreation, and that matters for your dues. The Club on Evening Glow Drive belongs to the association, with the pool, clubhouse and playground. Heroes Park belongs to the Valley-Wide Recreation & Park District. The Spencer's Crossing Sports Park, with its two ball diamonds, soccer fields and courts, belongs to the Murrieta Community Services District, so two of the three largest amenities here are public.
Big and recent. Not one of the sixty-three sales in the year to August 2026 was under 1,600 square feet, twenty-five were over 3,000, and the great majority were built after 2010. When The Oasis opened in 2018, the builders' plans here ran from about 2,010 to 4,002 square feet. Expect open ground floors, a loft or bonus room upstairs, and plenty of tandem or three-car garages.
In the year to August 2026, most prices landed between $650,000 and $800,000, and sixteen sales went above that. In that stretch nothing closed under $500,000, so this isn't the budget end of Murrieta.
Price the Mello-Roos before you price the house. A master plan built out over the last fifteen years is exactly where a Community Facilities District applies, and the special assessment is a big ongoing cost on top of the base property tax and the HOA dues. It's disclosed. I pull the parcel figure before you write an offer, and all three go into your monthly number together.
On a resale from an early phase, ask what the first buyer paid for in upgrades and what came standard. A base version and a fully optioned version of the same plan can be far apart, and you can't always tell from the photos.
If a home backs up to a phase that's still under construction, ask the builder what's planned behind it. Here, an open view is usually temporary.

Before you work out a payment
A master plan built out through the 2010s and 2020s is exactly what a Community Facilities District is for. Expect a special assessment here and confirm the amount on the exact parcel. It's disclosed, and it's a big enough number to change which house you can afford.

Your payment
An estimate for planning only, not a loan offer, quote or financial advice. Your actual payment depends on your lender, credit and final terms.
An estimate, not a quote. The rate and tax rate are defaults you can change, and homes in newer parts of the valley often carry a Mello-Roos special tax on top. Put it in the HOA field if you know it, and ask us if you do not.
Homeowners Association
Too few homes are currently on the market in Spencer's Crossing reporting association dues to publish a reliable range. Ask us and we will pull the current figure for a specific address.
Spencer's Crossing has master association dues, so know what they do and don't pay for. The Club on Evening Glow Drive, with the pool, the clubhouse and the playground next to it, belongs to the association. Heroes Park is run by the Valley-Wide Recreation & Park District and the Spencer's Crossing Sports Park by the Murrieta Community Services District, and both say so on their own monuments. That means a lot of the recreation here is publicly maintained and isn't paid for by your dues. A master plan from this era is also the classic Mello-Roos setup, so budget for the special assessment on top of the dues, never in place of them. Ask for the association's governing documents, the current dues, any pending special assessment, and the reserve study. In California the seller is required to provide these under Civil Code §4525, and the time to read them is your investigation period rather than after it.

Confirm the boundary. Attendance areas are set by the district, do not follow community lines, and are redrawn as schools open, so check the assigned schools for the specific address rather than the neighborhood. Ask Murrieta Valley Unified or Temecula Valley Unified.

Top Realtor in Murrieta: the record and homes we soldIt depends on the street. Most homes are in Murrieta Valley Unified, with Lisa J. Mails Elementary and Dorothy McElhinney Middle side by side on Briggs Road and Vista Murrieta High on Clinton Keith Road about ten minutes away. About a third of the sales in the year to August 2026 were in Menifee Union and Perris Union High instead. Send me the address and I'll confirm them.
About ten minutes. The on-ramp at Clinton Keith Road is right by Loma Linda University Medical Center in Murrieta, west of the community.
The Club on Evening Glow Drive has a pool, clubhouse and playground, and The Oasis adds two pools, fire pits and barbecues on more than three acres. Heroes Park is 14 acres and belongs to the Valley-Wide Recreation & Park District. The Spencer's Crossing Sports Park is 11.5 acres of lighted fields, run by the Murrieta Community Services District.
Yes. Seventeen of the sixty-three homes that sold in the year to August 2026 were built in the 2020s, so new phases are still hitting the market right alongside resales. That gives you two different kinds of purchase to compare, often on the same street.
Expect it. A master plan built out through the 2010s and 2020s is exactly what a Community Facilities District funds. The assessment is disclosed and it depends on the parcel, so get the number for the actual address and add it to the HOA dues and the base property tax before you decide.
Big. Not one of the sixty-three sales in the year to August 2026 was under 1,600 square feet, and twenty-five were over 3,000. Around six in ten of those sales were two-story, so if you want a smaller or single-story home in Murrieta, look elsewhere first.
