Most of the Menifee fall events 2026 calendar lands in October, and three of them come straight from the city: the Haunt Your House decorating contest (entries October 1 through 12, public voting October 16 through 20), the Fall Festival on Saturday, October 17 from 4 to 8 p.m., and the Day of the Dead celebration on Saturday, October 24, also 4 to 8 p.m. Both festivals are held at the Mt. San Jacinto College campus at 28237 La Piedra Road, and both are free to walk into. Below is the month laid out, plus the way I tell buyers to use these weekends when they're still deciding where in Menifee they want to land.

Here's the short version, pulled from the City of Menifee Special Events page and local coverage. Times and details can shift, so check the city page the week of the event.

Weekend pumpkin patches run through the month on their own schedules, which I get into further down.
When is the Menifee Fall Festival 2026 and what happens there?
The city's Fall Festival is Saturday, October 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Mt. San Jacinto College on La Piedra Road. It's the biggest single night on Menifee's fall calendar.
What's there, according to the city and to Canyon Lake Insider's writeup: food and craft vendors, live entertainment, performances by local community groups, a trunk-or-treat with a car cruise-in, and a kids' zone with a free wristband in exchange for a donation at the city's booth. The costume contest has categories for ages 0 to 4, 5 to 8 and 9 to 12, judged on scariest, cutest and most original, with separate categories for teens, families and pets. Registration for the costume contest runs through the city's Special Events page, and in past years on-site registration opened at 4 p.m. with the first age group judged around 4:30.
One honest warning. The MSJC lot is big but it is not endless, and La Piedra Road off Newport backs up right at the 4 p.m. start. If you're coming from the south end of town, give yourself 20 extra minutes or plan to park at the far end and walk in. Early October afternoons here can still feel like summer at 4 p.m., so the last hour of the festival is the comfortable one.
The trunk-or-treat side has a nice local history to it. The Sun City Cruizers car club hosted the trunk-or-treat at the 2025 festival, per the city's event calendar, and classic cars with candy in the trunk is a very Menifee combination.

How does Haunt Your House work in Menifee?
Haunt Your House is the city's Halloween home decorating contest, open to Menifee residents. For 2026, applications are accepted October 1 through 12 at the city's Special Events page. A panel of judges picks the category winners (Scariest, Best Theme, Family-Friendly and Most Innovative), and the community votes for the overall winner from October 16 through 20. Winners are posted on the city's Special Events page and social media the following week, and they get a lawn sign plus a feature on Menifee TV.
The part I care about has nothing to do with winning. The city loads every entry onto a map so people can drive around and vote, and that map is a free, honest tour of how Menifee streets actually behave in late October. Some cul-de-sacs go all in together. Some newer blocks are still quiet. You cannot get that from a listing photo.
Drive the Haunt Your House map after dark. You'll learn more about a street in 20 minutes than you will in a week of scrolling.
What is the Day of the Dead celebration in Menifee?
Menifee's Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, celebration is Saturday, October 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the same MSJC campus on La Piedra Road. The city has listed it as free in past years, with Community Services reachable at 951-723-3880 for questions.
In prior years the event has featured altar displays built by community members, live music, folklorico and other dance performances, traditional food and retail vendors. The city has also invited people to apply to display their own altar, which is worth asking about early if that interests you. It's a quieter, slower evening than the Fall Festival, and the altars are the reason to go.
Where are the pumpkin patches near Menifee?
Menifee has its own patches, which means you do not have to drive to the 15 to find one. The Wickerd Farm, out on Wickerd Road on the south side of town, is the one most people name first, and Tom's Adventures Pumpkin Patch also operates in Menifee. Head down the 15 toward Temecula and you'll find Pumpkinland and Peltzer Pumpkin Farm, both roughly a half hour from central Menifee depending on which end of town you start from.
Admission, ride tickets and operating hours change every single year at these places, and a few only open in the afternoons on weekdays. Check the farm's own page or phone before you load up the car. I'm not going to quote you prices that may be a year stale.
What else is worth the drive in October?
Rocktoberfest in Canyon Lake returns for its 11th year on October 10, about 15 minutes from the north end of Menifee by way of Newport Road and the 215. Canyon Lake is a gated community, so plan your entry through a resident or check with the POA on guest access before you go.
If you want more of a drive, late October in Temecula wine country is the busiest stretch of the year, around 30 minutes south on the 15. Harvest is wrapping up and weekend tasting rooms fill fast, so book ahead.
How can October weekends help you choose a Menifee neighborhood?
This is the part I actually push on, because October is the most useful month of the year for a buyer who hasn't picked a community yet.
- Time the drive you'll really make. Leave from the neighborhood you're considering and drive to MSJC at 3:45 on festival Saturday. That's a real traffic test, not a Tuesday morning one.
- Walk a street at night. Sidewalk width, streetlight spacing, how far apart the driveways sit. Trick-or-treating density is a decent shorthand for how a street feels on a normal evening too.
- Look at the park, not the photo. Audie Murphy Ranch and Heritage Lake both have amenities that get used hardest in the fall, once the heat finally breaks. Show up on a Saturday and see.
- Ask what the extras cost. Many of Menifee's newer communities carry HOA dues and a Mello-Roos (CFD) special tax on top of the base property tax rate. Get both numbers in writing for the specific address before you fall for the neighborhood.

If you're on the other side of this and thinking about selling in the spring, fall is when the prep work actually gets done, while the weather cooperates and before the January rush of new listings. Start with what your place is worth today: get a home valuation and we'll walk you through what the next six months would look like.

Is October a good time to tour Menifee neighborhoods before buying?
It's one of the better months. The heat finally eases, community parks and trails get busy again, and events like the Fall Festival let you test a real drive time to the center of town. Use the Haunt Your House map as a free street-by-street tour, then ask us for the HOA and Mello-Roos numbers on any address you like.
